Q: How is length determined?
A: The distance on the deck from bow to stern usually determines length. This is commonly called Length Overall or LOA. If a bowsprit or other extension is included, the length number should be qualified if seller includes that. Sailboats also use a measure called Length on Waterline or LWL, but this number is not usually used to set the length for selling purposes.
